The Island Capri is an Italian island of Sorrentine Peninsula The island has a perimetre e of approximately 17 Km ,it is 6,7 Km long and its width varies between 2,7 Km and 1,2 Km. Distances in sea miles from: Naples 17; Sorrento 7,7; Amalfi 17,5; Salerno 25; lschia 16; Positano 11.
The highest point is Mount Solaro - 589 metres. There are two towns: Capri and Anacapri. The City of Capri is the main centre about 8000 people live in Capri . The town of Anacapri is located high on the hills west from the City of Capri and about 7000 people live in Anacapri. Marina Grande is the main port of the island. .The Island  is served by frequent ferry and hydrofoil from Naples and Sorrento, as well as many other boat services to the ports of the Gulf of Naples the Sorrentine Peninsula and Amalfi coast.The island has been a celebrated beauty spot and resort since the time of the Roman Republic. The climate of Capri is typically mediterranean. Spring and Autumn are the milder seasons during which it is certainly more pleasant to visit the island. Capri is a tourist destination and also for nature lovers, the flora and fauna are at their most beautiful in late March and throughout April.
