At the outset I have to say that I owe an enormous debt to my mother Rosa and my farther Salvatore.I am particularly indebted to my mother because she instilled in me all her love and passion for cooking.I was very lucky to live in Capri because the island was a haven for artists, writers and other intellectuals and the jet set from all over the world. For me was an important opportunity to learn from contact with people from other cultures and different levels of society and which helped to broaden my outlook on life. My thoughts and intentions had always been directed towards building my future in Capri but then the unexpected happened. A meeting took place which brought me to a life changing decision which I have never regretted. Destiny determined that a dinner party at a friend's house one evening I would meet the woman who would become the most important lady in my life next to my mother. From our first meeting there was an understanding and from this deeper feelings, trust and respect on both sides have grown with the years. The decision I made , which I would never have contemplated before, was to leave Capri and move to England. My heart brought me to England and here far away from my Island with the person I love we realised the dream to open a restaurant ,where I can transmit all my knowledge and emotion about the Caprisian dishes .Our restaurant is " Mia Capri " . Why " Mia Capri " ? It is all in the name which encapsulates our pride in being natives of Capri and at the same time is a tribute to an island which is always in our hearts. |
